Brazil is responsible for the most effective aluminum recycling cycle worldwide. In 2006, 317 thousand ton of aluminum were recycled, equivalent to 38% of the domestic consumption of processed metal products. Reason for pride, the Country stands out for the high recycling rate of aluminum cans for beverages; the last result make Brazil the world champion for the sixth consecutive year, recycling 94,4% of consumed cans. In addition, recycling is responsible for savings in electrical power, environment protection and contributes for society at large – with over 170 thousand Brazilians involved in the activity, from the collection of cans to the processing of scrap into new products.
