Companies in the aluminum industry in Brazil do not
confine themselves to compliance with the legislation
and standards in force, but, additionally, they go beyond
them in terms of; economic, environmental
and social needs, performing, for instance, the planting
of native species in order to recompose the original vegetation of mined
areas and recovering their biodiversity. However, there
are still many challenges to overcome. Among them, a
higher contribution in the development of solutions for
the automotive and transport industries, and options
to increase energy supply, as well as energy efficiency.
Also, the creation of applications for bauxite waste,
and the expansion of the scope of actions to engage communities.
However, when the Brazilian industry contributes for the full achievement
of the goals proposed by IAI ( reduction of pollutants and minimization
of energy consumption, among other items), it takes an important step
towards sustainability.
